In this novel, the Jewish fairboy Lowie Hofman meets the student Rini Veerkens at the hiding place to which he is being taken. After a difficult start, a special relationship develops between the man and the boy, who are both placed in a concentration camp.
After the war, the love between them continues and they experience the often violent social changes in their own way.
